author of 15 books in all, the American psychiatrist Scott Peck (1936-2005) wrote among other s ur love, faithfulness, self-discipline, euthanasia, parenthood, and even the devil and two exorcisms that he performed. With T he Road Less Traveled, his first book, it all started.

Published for the first time in 1978, The Road Less Trav ELED has first few sold. It was later, through word of mouth, a major critic in the Washington Post (by Phyllis Theroux), Alcoholics Anonymous (among others), and the efforts of Peck himself to promote his book, that it attint finally a phenomenal popularity: The Road Less Traveled figured in the list of bestseller New York Times for ten years, a record never equaled to this day .

With this cult book, Dr. Scott Peck has inspired and guided millions of readers in search of personal growth. However, this "doctor of the soul", which lavished other advice and encouragement to face the challenges of life and to live fully, has himself lived a hard life and tumultuous, and indulged in some immature narcissism.

). Arthur Jones does not lack, moreover, to include in this biography of the first words of the bestseller Peck: "Life Is Difficult" (life is hard). He describes, in detail, this "road" painful frequented by Peck: her marriages, her divorce, his relationship with his father corrosive, his professional success and family, his education, his commitment to the army, his medical career and his gifts as a writer, his long spiritual quest. A road where psychology, psychiatry and religion meet.

To write this biography, Arthur Jones was based on hours of conversations with Scott Peck past, during which he tried to listen and observe in a detached way. Arthur Jones has already had a long career as a journalist, author, editor and international correspondent.
